It's nice to see that some of the more respectable ones (Duff, Hilary; Pannetierre, Hayden) have caught on to the paparazzi and have learned not to allow *those* kinds of shots be taken by ensuring that they don't expose themselves getting out of a vehicle.
The rest obviously just take whatever "publicity" they can get. (Hilton, Paris; Spears, Britney; Lohan, Lindsay)
